Sophie refuses to wear shoes and insists on spending 80 percent of her day frolicking in the back yard. She just looked so cute, I couldn't resist.

She thinks these are the prettiest flowers in the world-and bonus-the bunnies will eat them out of her hands. Doesn't get much better than that!
Our future garden plot. Rex hated the bushes and couldn't bear to take up our grassy plot with garden, so we ripped out the 30 year old fitzers-easier said than done. I think we took a good inch off the jeep tires. Good thing we had a really long chain!

Every year we keep up the tradition my parents started, by doing the FHE lesson of the ants and the grasshopper. This year we told our kids to be like ants and haul bushes so we could plant a garden. I had to laugh when our neighbor poked his head over the fence and told us we were like ants-always busy doing some project or another. Can you believe the size of this pile (there is an identical one directly behind). The picture really doesn't do justice. What a lot of work and a lot of trips to the dump!!!

  1. So you had a pile of fitzers while we had a pile of branches. We just had the landlady pay to take it away so we got the easy way out! Wow Sophie has really grown. I can't believe her cute hair. So fun to get these girls together this summer. Can't wait!! (Did you cut your hair? Looks cute, even wet.)
